Bicycles, e-scooters, etc.

Last-mile mobility. Everything you need to know about travelling with bicycles, e-scooters, pushchairs, etc.

Whether it’s a bicycle, e-scooter, pushchair, sledge or wheelchair – in principle it is possible to take these items with you on buses, trams and trains. The requirements are that such items do not endanger safety or bother other passengers, and that there is enough space in the vehicle. You do not have a right to take them with you. Transport is almost always free of charge, except for bicycles and e-scooters.

Want to order a dial-a-ride bus (ALT, AST, flexo) for your journey? Then please let us know if you are taking larger items with you. We will then ensure that the vehicle is large enough.

Bicycles

If there’s enough room, you can board a bus or train with your bike. Passengers, pushchairs and wheelchairs always take priority. In case of doubt, the driver decides. Trains often have special multi-purpose areas, which are marked with a bicycle symbol.

You need a bicycle day ticket to take a bicycle with you. Unless you’re taking a folding bike. Folded up, transport is free of charge.

A tip:

Holders of Plus monthly passes, Plus season tickets and Job season tickets can take a bicycle with them free of charge from 7pm Monday to Friday and all day at weekends.

Note for e-bikes:

For safety reasons, batteries or rechargeable batteries must remain firmly mounted during the entire journey. They must not be removed, charged or used in any other way (e.g., as a power bank), except where charging of built-in batteries is permitted in appropriately marked trains.

Carriage of additional batteries is not permitted.

E-scooters

E-scooters are also allowed on bus and rail services. If they are carried folded, carriage is free of charge. Otherwise, you will need a bicycle day ticket.

Note:

For safety reasons, batteries or rechargeable batteries must remain firmly mounted during the entire journey. They must not be removed, charged or used in any other way (e.g., as a power bank), except where charging of built-in batteries is permitted in appropriately marked trains.

Carriage of additional batteries is not permitted.

Wheelchairs

For safety reasons, wheelchairs and e-scooters must meet certain conditions. For example, their weight must not exceed 300 kg. E-scooters must be approved for carriage on public transport by the manufacturer.

Animals

You can take your pet with you by bus or rail. It even accompanies you free of charge. It is important that your little darling does not endanger or annoy passengers and does not interfere with driving. So please note the following:

  • Dogs must be on a leash.
  • Dogs that can endanger passengers must wear a muzzle.
  • For all other animals, please choose a suitable transport container.
  • Do not place animals in seats.

You can find more information on taking your belongings with you in our Conditions of Carriage.
